“Pirates rum, violins, dancing bears, saws,
gypsies
drowning...
The Bonnie and Clyde of saw rock...”
Stemming from the green pastures of Devon, Oli 'n' Clive met on the
road to London carrying cello, drums, ukuleles, bass, cornet,
harmonica, musical saw, guitar, violins, autoharp and eggs.
Oli is the singer and Clive is the rest of the band and around 2005
they got together to make sweet and fangled music, using all the
bric-a-brac of instruments they could gather.
Sometimes they sound like
the raw end of Dolly Parton and sometimes like the blithe end of Tom
Waits.
"Excuse Me" is Oli ‘N Clive’s debut release and a
lush ballad,
full of rare instruments and heartbreaking melodies, sung
on a rainy night,
at the corner of Unrequited Love Avenue and Bitter
Farewell boulevard.
The single is accompanied by a video made by Caroline Kalb and
Cassie Fienburgh. It shows the adventurous attempt at catching a
rolling cheese and the damaging effects such a passion can have...
On the B side, another Trial & Error signing, Wet Paint, gather
their guitars and screams to give a noisy rendition of
“Excuse Me”.
